DRIVER 1: Gary Nesbitt, 27-year-old, Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 1: 2010 BMW Sedan
DRIVER 2: Whalen Zumwalt, 24-year-old, Resident of Hesperia
VEHICLE 2: 2017 Ram Pickup
DRIVER 3: Jennifer Gonzalez, 37-year-old, Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 3: 2026 BMW SUV
SUMMARY:
On August 19, 2026, at approximately 8:11 p.m., deputies, along with rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Mohawk Road.
Through the investigation, deputies determined driver 1 was driving vehicle 1 westbound on Bear Valley Road when he swerved out of his lane and collided with vehicle 2, which was stopped in the eastbound turn lane at the intersection with Mohawk Road. The force of the collision caused vehicle 2 to subsequently collide with vehicle 3.
Driver 3 and all three passengers in vehicle 3 complained of pain and were transported to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.
