OPD Crime Reduction Team Arrests Three in Robbery Case

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) Crime Reduction Team (CRT) – East officers observed an armed robbery near 90th Avenue and Birch Street on August 17, 2026. Three individuals tied to the robbery entered a vehicle and left the area. OPD officers attempted a vehicle stop, but the vehicle did not stop and continued to flee. Officers initiated a pursuit but ended it when the East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD) police helicopter unit was overhead.
After attempting to elude capture and with assistance from the EBRPD helicopter, the suspect vehicle stopped in the area of Interstate 580 and 35th Avenue. The three individuals exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers already in the area quickly took the individuals into custody in the 3300 block of Arkansas Street. A pistol-caliber firearm, as well as property from the robbery, were recovered.
All three individuals were arrested for the robbery and firearms-related offenses.
