Weekend Rebuild by Design work in Weehawken to impact Hoboken; 9th Street Light Rail station out of service 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sat. & Sun.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has advised the City of Hoboken of weekend Rebuild by Design work in Weehawken that may impact Hoboken drivers and public transit riders.

Test pitting work will take place from 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, through 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24 on 19th Street just west of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) tracks near Waterfront Terrace in Weehawken. 

19th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between JFK Boulevard East and Waterfront Terrace between 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, and 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24. Hoboken drivers should plan for possible delays entering and exiting the City via northern routes and allow for additional travel time.  

According to NJ Transit, Light Rail service will be suspended from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 and Sunday Aug. 23, between 2nd Street in Hoboken and Port Imperial in Weehawken. A shuttle bus will be in place from 2nd Street, 9th Street, Lincoln Harbor, and Port Imperial Stations. After 8 p.m. on each day, normal weekend service will resume, with 9th Street and Lincoln Harbor stations operational.

NJ Transit buses will also be diverted.
