Following up on the smoke seen coming from a manhole on Navesink Avenue this afternoon — we know it looked alarming, and we appreciate everyone who called it in.
The smoke was a result of Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority sanitary sewer cleaning operations. Smoke came up through manhole covers for a brief period.
The Borough’s Fire Department responded as a precaution. The Fire Department and Authority confirmed everything was safe. Cleaning is this area is now complete.
