Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
On August 20th at approximately 10:37 a.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 800 block of Kirkwood Street, when they observed a male subject engaged in a drug related activity from his vehicle. Officers made contact with 28-year-old Isaiah Smiley and took him into custody without incident. Officers recovered 5.6 grams of crack cocaine.
Subsequently, officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of West 27th Street. Officers recovered a loaded .9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, 33.8 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Officers also executed a search warrant on Smiley’s vehicle and recovered 3.12 grams of heroin.
Smiley has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Possession of a Weapon with an Obliterated Serial Number
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver- Tier 3
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Tier 3
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver- Tier 2
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Tier 2
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $205,200 cash-only bail.
