Multi-Service Center gym floor to be resurfaced; Plan for temporary impacts  

The Multi-Service Center gymnasium floor is scheduled to undergo resurfacing and repairs beginning Saturday, Aug. 29. The gym is scheduled to reopen by Monday, Sept. 14. 

The work, which includes sanding, sealing, painting, and applying finish coats to the gym floor, is an important investment in maintaining and extending the life of the gym. Access to the gymnasium will be restricted through the entire length of the project. While the work is restricted to the gym area, it is possible that impacts may be noticed throughout the building, including elevated noise levels, noticeable odors, and restricted access 

While the gym is closed, senior programming that typically takes place in the gym, including Zumba, Tai Chi, Band Resistance Class, and Chair Yoga, will be moved to the Senior Dining Room on the first floor of the Multi-Service Center. During this time, Bingo scheduled to take place in the Senior Dining Room, will be relocated to Adams Gardens, 220 Adams St.  

City administrative offices located at the Multi-Service Center will remain open throughout the project. Residents will be notified in advance if construction necessitates a change in office hours.  

Temporary no-parking signs are posted in the area for Saturday, Aug. 29, through Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please abide by all signs.

Last Southwest Resilency Park Farmers Market of the season is Thursday, Aug. 27 

The Thursday farmers market at Southwest Resiliency Park will end for the season due to low attendance. The final market will be held this week on Aug. 27 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

The City will work with vendors to evaluate the market and determine whether a different day of the week may be more effective for next season. 

Residents are reminded that two other farmers' markets are available in the community on Tuesdays at Church Square Park from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. through November and on Saturdays under the 14th Street Viaduct from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through December. 

Learn about planned development at 1 Henderson Street on Sept. 15 

Residents are invited to participate in a virtual community meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m., to learn about and provide feedback on a proposed residential development at 1 Henderson St.  

During the meeting, the project team will present plans for a mixed-use development featuring 160 residential units, including 16 affordable housing units. The proposal also includes 64 parking spaces and a green roof designed to help capture stormwater.  

Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback about the proposal.

Join a virtual community meeting on the future of the Hoboken Connect Project on Sept. 22 

The City of Hoboken, and development partner LCOR, will host a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m., to update the public on the future redevelopment of “Site 1" of Hoboken Connect. 

"Site 1" is approximately 700,000 square feet of land owned by New Jersey Transit at the corner of Hudson Place and Hudson Street which is currently being used as a surface parking lot. During the Sept. 22 community meeting, LCOR will present proposed changes to the redevelopment plan and agreement. Participants will be invited to make comments and ask questions about the project.
