Homicide Investigation Update-New Arrest 
The Janesville Police Department continues to investigate the August 9, 2026, homicide that occurred in the 100 block of South Academy Street in the City of Janesville. Following the initial investigation, four individuals, Mantezz Granger, Demetrius Cooper, Tyshawn Howe, and Marshawn Jones, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigators have continued to review evidence and interview witnesses. As a result, detectives arrested Charles Crenshaw III yesterday, August 26, 2026, for Harboring or Aiding Felons in connection with the homicide investigation. Crenshaw III was also arrested yesterday for Possession with Intent to Deliver THC based on evidence seized during a search warrant served in the 1800 block of South Crosby Avenue on August 9, 2026.
Crenshaw III was a person of interest related to the homicide and was initially arrested on August 9, 2026, for a felony probation violation through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He was subsequently released from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, however, he is now in custody, where he will await his initial court appearance on both new charges.
The Janesville Police Department Detective Bureau continues to actively investigate this incident. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time. Additional information will be provided when it can be released without compromising the investigation.
