MERIDIAN, Idaho — On August 21, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Meridian Police officers received a report that an adult male had sexual intercourse with a female juvenile while parked near The Village at Meridian earlier that day. Through the course of the investigation, detectives ultimately identified 58-year-old Christopher SOTOLONGO of Boise as the suspect.
 
The juvenile and SOTOLONGO had recently met and were not previously known to one another. During their interaction, SOTOLONGO identified himself to the juvenile using a different name. As the investigation progressed, the juvenile was able to provide officers with a description of the vehicle SOTOLONGO was driving.
 
Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to determine the vehicle’s license plate and utilized Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology to locate the vehicle in the area. This information assisted detectives in identifying SOTOLONGO. The investigation determined that SOTOLONGO had provided the juvenile with drugs and alcohol in exchange for meeting with him.
 
Officers and detectives contacted SOTOLONGO and began an interview. Shortly afterward, SOTOLONGO was arrested without further incident and booked into the Ada County Jail on one count of rape.
 
This case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
