* Flash Flood Warning for... The Northwest area of the Ferris Fire Scar burn scar in... Northwestern Dolores County in southwestern Colorado...

* Until 615 PM MDT.

* At 536 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Northwest area of the Ferris Fire Scar Burn Scar. Between 0.3 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen over 15 minutes. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Northwest area of the Ferris Fire Scar Burn Scar. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Northwest area of the Ferris Fire Scar Burn Scar.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mainly rural areas of Northwestern Dolores County. This includes the following streams and drainages... Cross Canyon, Glade Canyon and Dolores River.

This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches in the Northwest area of the Ferris Fire Scar Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If you encounter flood waters...climb to safety. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Low water crossings in mountainous terrain can become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become life threatening in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
