On August 28, 2026, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Santa Maria Police Department Gang Suppression Team detectives were conducting proactive patrols in the 600 block of West Lemon Street due to recent gang activity in the area.
Detectives observed a group of males drinking alcohol in an alley. When the group noticed police, several individuals ran from the area. SMPD GST detectives pursued and contacted multiple subjects during the investigation.
As a result, 18-year-old Luis Alejandro Garcia-Martinez was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm (25400(a)(2) PC), carrying a loaded firearm (25850(a) PC), and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer (148(a)(1) PC).
Garcia-Martinez was taken into custody and booked on the listed charges.
