SCHOOL’S BACK – WWPD Adopt-A-Bus Enforcement
?✋ SCHOOL’S BACK – AND SO ARE WE.
The West Windsor Police Department is proud to launch Adopt A Bus. Every officer, detective, traffic officer, command staff, and even the Chief himself will be “adopting” a school bus. That means both marked and unmarked police cars will be following buses on random routes to make sure drivers obey the law.
Too often, accidents happen because someone thinks the rules don’t apply to them. It’s simple: when you see red flashing lights and the stop sign arm extended,
STOP – at least 25 feet away. Every child’s safety is everyone’s responsibility.
New Jersey Law in short:
• Stop at least 25 feet away from a bus with flashing red lights and stop arm extended.
• On a DIVIDED (Median or Barrier) highway ONLY, stop only if you’re on the same side of the road as the bus.
• Amber/yellow flashing lights = slow down and prepare to stop.
Let’s work together to keep our kids safe.
Please share this message and remind your family and friends: It’s not just the law – it’s common sense.
Stay Safe & Warm!
