Rohnert Park DPS Investigating Reported Carjacking
ROHNERT PARK, CA — On August 27, 2026, at approximately 7:08 p.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety dispatch center received a report of a carjacking that had just occurred in the parking lot of 321 Rohnert Park Expressway, Office Depot.
Officers arrived within minutes and contacted the victim, a Petaluma resident, in a nearby parking lot. The victim reported that she was walking to her vehicle when an adult Black male approached her and demanded her vehicle. The suspect then pushed the victim and drove away in her vehicle. The victim described the suspect as a Black male about 5’7”-5’9” with short curly hair, wearing a black coat and black pants.
Officers pursued the vehicle toward Richmond with assistance from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, Henry-1 helicopter, and neighboring law enforcement agencies. During the pursuit, officers lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle was later located abandoned in Richmond, where it was recovered and eventually returned to the victim.
Rohnert Park DPS continues to follow up on leads to identify the suspect. This case remains under investigation.
