Narrative:
On 08/30/2026, (S) Bret Endicott was arrested for a felony assault with force likely to cause serious bodily injury. 
 
On 08/30/2026, at about 1:57 AM, deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the 200 block of A Street in Fillmore reference an assault.  Upon arrival, deputies located a 64-year-old male suffering from head injuries.  Over the course of the investigation, deputies determined Bret Endicott, a 54-year-old Fillmore resident, assaulted the victim causing serious bodily injury.  The victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. 
 
Endicott fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival and was located a short time later.  Deputies discovered additional evidence in Endicott’s possession linking him to the assault.
 
Based on the circumstances, Endicott was arrested for violations of Penal Code § 245(a)(4) – [Assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury] and Penal Code § 422 – [Criminal Threats].  He was transported to the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility where he was booked pending court proceedings. 
 
Detectives are actively investigating this felonious assault and are asking for the public’s assistance for any information regarding the incident.  Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact Detective Axel Morales at (805) 477-7011 or Dustin Heersche at (805) 477-7012.  Tips can also be submitted through Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), where callers can remain anonymous.
