INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2 (a) – Failure to yield / Pursuit
LOCATION: N. Euclid Avenue / 24th Street, Upland
SUSPECT: Confidential, 15-year-old, Male Juvenile, Resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY: On Saturday, August 29, 2026, at about 3:02 p.m., Deputy Esposito from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station was conducting proactive patrol in the community of San Antonio Heights, Upland. Esposito observed a group of about 5-6 males, riding gasoline powered mini-bikes, traveling south on N. Euclid Avenue.
A traffic enforcement stop was initiated, but the riders disregarded the emergency lights and siren, continuing south on N. Euclid Avenue. A traffic pursuit was initiated, and the riders split up in different directions, with Esposito following one of the riders. The suspect ran numerous stop signs and traffic control lights. After an approximate 6-mile pursuit with speeds reaching 50 miles per hour (MPH), the suspect was apprehended in the 900 block of E. 4th Street, in the City of Ontario.
The suspect was found to be a 15-year-old, male juvenile, resident of Rancho Cucamonga. The mini-bike was impounded, and the suspect was arrested and subsequently released to the custody of his mother, with a pending court date.
The public is reminded that gas-powered mini-bikes are only permitted on private property and are NOT legal on public roads, sidewalks, bike paths, or city streets.
