Today, we are pleased to welcome 47 new Police Officer Trainees to OPD's 198th Academy.
This class of four women and 43 men is beginning their public service careers in Oakland. The group is diverse, with several members speaking multiple languages, reflecting the community they will one day serve.
Many trainees live in, or have deep roots in, "The Town," and all are dedicated to serving Oakland.
This is another step in our ongoing commitment to keeping our community safe.
