Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive-Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, September 2, 2026
• Bergen St. between Nye Ave. and West Runyon St.
Hawthorne Ave. between Osborne Terr. And Hunterdon St.
• Hedden Terr. between Hawthorne Ave. and West Runyon St.
• Seymour Ave. between West Runyon St. and Yates Ave.
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Bergen St. and Hawthorne Ave.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
