INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision Investigation
LOCATION: 19000 block of Outer Highway 18 South, Apple Valley
SUSPECT: Unknown
VICTIM: Cassidy Kelsay, 41-year-old, Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On August 28, 2026, at approximately 1:02 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to a report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian in the 19000 block of Outer Highway 18 South.
Upon arrival, deputies located the pedestrian, identified as Cassidy Kelsay. Kelsay was transported to St. Mary Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Apple Valley Station deputies with the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Outer Highway 18 South when it struck Kelsay. The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival.
This investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
