Monthly Stats For August 2026
RESPONSE TIMES:
During the month of August 2026, the average response time for all calls for service was 6 minutes and 41 seconds. There was 1 Priority 1 Emergency call during the month, with a response time of 4 minutes and 30 seconds. These response times were derived from the 347 calls that qualify for response-time tracking.
PATROL STATISTICS:
This report includes a summary of the total incidents for all calls for service, as well as the total number and type of police reports that were generated. The Patrol Statistics report also includes our total number of arrests as well as citations.
During the month of August 2026, HPD responded to and handled 2,174 calls for service and reported incidents. 570 incidents were resident calls for service and 1,604 were officer-initiated incidents. HPD made 6 arrests and issued 79 total citations in the month.
CRIME SUMMARY:
This report is a summary of all crimes documented and investigated by the Hillsborough Police Department. In August, there was 1 residential burglary and 0 “other” burglary. In 2026, we have investigated a total of 9 residential burglaries and 3 “other” burglaries (construction site, commercial, or vehicle).
Residential Burglary Updates
On 7/18/26, Hillsborough Police responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress on the 300 block of West Santa Inez Avenue in Hillsborough. Responding officers located a suspect in a vehicle matching the description provided by an attentive passerby and subsequently placed the driver, Karelis Monje Saez, under arrest. Two other unidentified suspects eluded capture and fled. Monje Saez was determined to be a Chilean citizen. On 8/27/26, a preliminary hearing in San Mateo County Superior Court for Monje Saez was scheduled however due to scheduling issues raised by legal counsel, it was continued to a later date.
On 11/6/2025 three residential burglaries involving the same suspects occurred in Hillsborough, along with other cities in San Mateo County. HPD Investigators identified a suspect vehicle using Flock ALPR cameras and began an investigation which led to a residence in Stockton as being a location of interest. In July, HPD and other San Mateo County Law Enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at the residence and seized the suspect’s vehicle which was later towed as evidence. HPD Investigators processed the vehicle which provided significant investigative leads along with the recovery of additional stolen property and burglary tools. The investigation is ongoing.
On 12/2/24, HPD Officers responded to the Hillsborough School District Office located at 300 El Cerrito Avenue in Hillsborough on a report of a burglary. HSD staff reported that two trucks owned by the school district had been stolen and numerous tools were stolen from other district owned trucks as well as their building. HPD Investigators conducted an investigation along with the South San Francisco Police Department, Livermore Police Department, and Campbell Police Department and identified Oakland resident Oscar Barcenas Gonzalez as one of the suspects. An arrest warrant was obtained and he was taken into custody. On 8/19/26 in San Mateo County Superior Court, Gonzalez was held to answer on the following charges:

• 487 (a) PC – Grand Theft
• 2 Counts of 10851(a) CVC – Theft of Vehicle
• 3 Counts of 10852 CVC – Tampering with a Vehicle
