OPD NEWS:

OPD Tows 60+ Abandoned and Stolen Vehicles

In response to community concerns, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) removed more than 60 abandoned and stolen vehicles from East Oakland.

During National Night Out, residents told OPD officers and staff about the urban blight plaguing their neighborhoods. On August 31, 2026, an Area 6 sergeant, patrol officers, a police services technician, and an OPD Dispatcher, conducted a coordinated towing operation in the 300 block of 105th Avenue, the 1400 block of 105th Avenue, the 1300 block of 104th Avenue, the 1300 block of 102nd Avenue, and the 600 block of Hegenberger Road. These areas are linked to violent crime, narcotics activity, and the dismantling of unregistered vehicles left on public streets.

In all, 41 abandoned vehicles were towed, two stolen vehicles were recovered, and more than 20 additional vehicles were tagged for towing. Several residents shared that, for the first time in months, they were able to park in front of their homes after the vehicles were removed.

To report abandoned vehicles:
• The City of Oakland Vehicle Abatement Detail: (510) 777-8538 (leave a voicemail message)
• Email: [email protected]
• Call: 311

OPD will continue to partner with Oakland residents to address quality-of-life concerns and identify areas that need enforcement.
