On September 1, 2026, at 5:07 p.m. Deputies Wes Baumgart and Eric Powell conducted a drug investigation at the On The Fly Convenience Store located at 611 West Morton Street in Oakland City. During the investigation they attempted to 37-year-old Nicoya Poole of Evansville, but she gave them a false name in an effort to hide the fact that she had an outstanding warrant out of Evansville. At the conclusion of the inquiry Ms. Poole was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center where she was charged with a new charge of False Informing. She also is being held on a Failure To Appear warrant out of Vanderburgh County.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
