Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying suspects who took a victim’s catalytic converter while using the BMW pictured below on Friday, August 27, 2026.
The victim told police that he parked his 2011 Hyundai at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Quitman Street between West Kinney Street and Montgomery Street. When he returned around noon, the victim realized his catalytic converter had been stolen after hearing a loud noise coming from his car.
On surveillance video, the suspects pulled up to the Hyundai in a black BMW Series 5. A passenger exited the car and cut the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle. The suspects then drove away heading southbound on Quitman Street, turning left on Montgomery Street toward Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
