NARRATIVE: On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Deputies from Carson Sheriff’s Station responded to the 20000 of Avalon Boulevard in the city of Carson regarding a possible person dead call.
Upon arrival, deputies met with personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department on the Dominguez Channel Bike Path, where they saw a body floating within the channel. Fire Department personnel removed the body from the channel. The body was found to be in a state of severe decomposition and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Homicide Investigators were notified and responded to the location.
Investigators learned a patron at a local golf course, which runs along the Dominguez Channel, saw the body floating downstream and called emergency services.
The body was identified as that of a female by a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s field investigator; however, an approximate age could not be determined at the scene due to the female’s state of decomposition.
The female’s identity and approximate age will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy is pending.
There is no additional information at this time.
The death investigation remains ongoing.
