INCIDENT: PC4532 (B)(1) - Escape from Electronic Confinement

LOCATION: 12750 Main Street, Hesperia 

SUSPECT(S): Gabriel Joshua Alferez, 24-years-old, Resident of Hesperia


SUMMARY: On Thursday, June 18, 2026, Gabriel Alferez was ordered by the court to have an electronic GPS monitoring device placed on his ankle for his conviction of aggravated trespassing and battery. 

On Friday, July 24, 2026, Alferez enrolled and therefore was an in-custody inmate participating in the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Electronic Confinement Program. Alferez was serving a sentence of 75 days for the charge of PC 601(A) - Trespassing Residence with Intent to Execute Threat of Great Bodily Injury, and PC 242 - Battery. An electronic GPS monitoring device was placed on his ankle. Alferez received detailed instructions on the program curfew and how to properly charge and maintain the device. 

On August 7, 2026, STOP (Satellite Tracking of People) monitoring call center notified Work Release deputies of a master tamper notification on Alferez's GPS tracking device . Through investigative leads, Work Release deputies discovered Alferez had cut off his ankle monitor and left it on the ground in front of his girlfriend's residence. Due to the house arrest violation, the court issued a felony no bail arrest warrant for Alferez.

On September 1, 2026, deputies from Work Release and the Community Service and Reentry Division, were in the Hesperia area to serve the arrest warrant for Alferez. While en-route, deputies received information that Alferez was driving his girlfriend's vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle in the area of Main Street and Key Pointe Avenue and conducted a traffic stop. Alferez was contacted and placed into custody without incident. Alferez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for his arrest warrant of PC 4532(B)(1) - Escape from Electronic Confinement.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff to administer a Work Release program. While providing manual labor to improve or maintain public facilities, inmates may re-establish ties with their family, return to work with their previous employers, while serving the community on their non-scheduled workdays. Inmates who have been sentenced to Work Release by the courts also have the option of participating in Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center's Electronic Confinement Program (ECP). It is the duty of the Work Release division to ensure that all commitments are held accountable to all California State Laws while participating in the program to provide safety and security for the community.
