Outdoor Warning Siren maintenance and testing today 
A contractor for the City of Valdez is in town today and will be conducting annual maintenance and testing of the Outdoor Warning Sirens throughout town between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Depending on your proximity to the sirens you may hear them while indoors but please be advised the sirens are designed as an "outdoor" warning system, to be heard while outdoors.
Sirens and voice messaging may be heard throughout the day.
In the event of an actual emergency. The sirens will sound continuously for a long duration and additional NIXLE messages will be sent to inform the public of the situation. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we ensure our systems our operational to keep our community safe!
