DATE/TIME: September 1, 2026,  8:00 a.m., - 12:00 p.m.,

INCIDENT: Homeless Outreach and Engagement Operation

LOCATION: Victorville and Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Multiple

SUMMARY: On September 01, 2026, between 8:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Transit Detail hosted a homeless outreach and crime suppression operation which encompassed areas of Hesperia and Victorville, in the business district along Bear Valley Road, east of Interstate 15.

Deputies, County Probation Officers, Code Enforcement Officers, Animal Control and Public Works employees from the cities of Hesperia and Victorville participated in the operation. The team contacted individuals, provided resources, addressed criminal activity and quality of life, public safety, and cleanliness concerns in the area, while connecting those experiencing homelessness with appropriate social services and community resources through outreach and law enforcement strategies. Transit deputies focused on bus stops and bus shelters in the area to help ensure a safe and clean environment for users of the Victor Valley Transit Authority bus system.

During the approximate four-hour operation, 92 people were contacted and 46 people were referred to assistance programs including the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department HOPE Team, local rehabilitation facilities, the Wellness Center in Victorville, and family connections.

A total of 23 criminal reports were investigated, two vehicles were towed, and 29 individuals were arrested for drug and weapons violations, local municipal code violations, and outstanding arrest warrants. Public works employees removed 4,380 pounds of debris from streets, parking lots, and sidewalks. Additionally, 17 shopping carts belonging to local businesses were recovered and returned.

These efforts exemplify the Sheriff's Department commitment to aiding those in need, identifying and appropriately addressing criminal activity, and creating safe, clean communities and a secure local bus system for citizens who rely on it.
