Due to the activation of the emergency sirens yesterday for the tornado warning and the ongoing possibility of severe weather today, we want to remind everyone about the automated testing of our 14 emergency sirens. This testing occurs on the first Friday of each month at noon and lasts one minute.
If the sirens are activated at any time today, aside from the scheduled noon testing, it will indicate a real emergency. In such cases, please tune in to local media broadcasts for further warnings and information.
Please note that actual emergency siren activation cycles last for five minutes. These activation cycles may be repeated during an incident to ensure that the public receives adequate notification.
