Severe Weather Update: Park & Facility Closures
Following the severe storms that impacted the region, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is assessing storm damage and addressing hazards across parks, trails, and recreational facilities.
To ensure public safety and allow staff to conduct inspections, cleanup, and necessary repairs, the following locations are closed Friday, September 4, 2026:
- Watkins Regional Park
- Evelyn Cole Senior Activity Center
- Seat Pleasant Activity Center
- Columbia Park Community Center
- Patuxent Community Center
- Oakcrest Community Center
- Jesse J. Warr Park Building
- Millwood Park Building
- Billingsley Historic Site
Riversdale House Museum will remain closed through Sunday, September 6, 2026.
Our Maintenance and Operations teams are actively assessing conditions, clearing debris, addressing hazards, and working to safely restore affected areas.
Residents and visitors are advised to avoid closed parks and facilities and follow all posted signage and barricades. If visiting locations that remain open, please use extreme caution and be alert for downed trees, branches, debris, and other storm-related hazards.
