On September 5, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Santa Maria Police Department Gang Suppression Team (GST) contacted a group of individuals in the 800 block of East Sierra Madre Avenue.
During the investigation, officers contacted a 15-year-old juvenile and located two handguns and ammunition. Further investigation determined that one of the firearms had previously been reported stolen. The juvenile was taken into custody and taken to the Santa Barbara County Juvenile Hall on firearm-related charges.
Due to the suspect’s age, no identifying information will be released.
The Santa Maria Police Department remains committed to proactively addressing illegal firearm possession and removing unlawfully possessed firearms from our community in an effort to keep Santa Maria safe.
