Following recent severe storms and ongoing power outages, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is providing residents with access to an Emergency Weather Center and designated cooling centers today, Sunday, September 6.

While temperatures are not expected to reach extreme levels, these locations provide residents with a cool, comfortable place to stay, recharge, and take a break from conditions at home while power is being restored.

Emergency Weather Center

The Emergency Weather Center at Upper Marlboro Community Center will remain open today from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Emergency Weather Center operations at Langley Park Community Center and Palmer Park Community Center have been discontinued.

Cooling Centers Open Sunday

Residents impacted by power outages may also use the Department’s regularly designated cooling centers during normal operating hours:

Crews continue to actively work to restore power and address storm-related impacts throughout the community. M-NCPPC community centers and facilities are working to welcome residents back as quickly and safely as possible as conditions allow.

Residents and visitors are advised to use extreme caution and remain alert for downed trees, branches, debris, standing water, and other storm-related hazards. Please follow posted signage, barricades, and staff instructions.

The Department will continue monitoring storm-related impacts and community needs and will provide updates as conditions change.
