Special Weather Statement until 03:15PM

At 252 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 11 miles west of San Jon, or 12 miles east of Tucumcari, moving northeast at 10 mph. Strong outflow winds were also moving south through rural Quay County south of San Jon. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... San Jon. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 340 and 354.

Instructions:

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.
