| On September 5, 2026, patrol deputies from the Camarillo Police Station responded to a reported road rage incident that was initiated at Las Posas Road at the North 101 Freeway offramp between a black Mercedes sedan and a motorcycle. Witnesses to the incident called Sheriff’s Dispatch and reported the driver of the Mercedes was trying to intentionally run into the motorcycle. Witnesses also reported seeing the driver and front passenger of the Mercedes both pointing a black assault rifle at the victim. The Mercedes then collided with the motorcycle before fleeing the scene. The victim was uninjured and later released from the scene. Sheriff’s Advanced Real Time Information Center (ARTIC) utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras in Camarillo to positively identify the vehicle and guided responding deputies to the area of the Jack in the Box in the 1600 block of E Daily Drive. ARTIC was able to identify the vehicle’s license plate and the registered owner via images provided by prior ALPR images which assisted in identifying the driver. Patrol deputies located the suspect vehicle at the Jack in the Box drive-thru and conducted an enforcement stop. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle was identified as (S1)Gavyn Ghassedi and the front passenger was identified as a (S2) juvenile female. During a search of the Mercedes, two assault rifles and a pistol were recovered. Both assault rifles were determined to be fully automatic “ghost guns” with no serial numbers. The pistol was also a “ghost gun” with no serial number. Ghassedi and the female juvenile were both arrested for violations of PC 32625 – Posessesion of an automatic weapon, PC 30605 – Possession of an assault weapon, PC 27545 – Unlawful transfer of a firearm, PC 25850(C)(6) – Carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in public, PC 29180 – Possession of a firearm with no serial number, PC 245(a)(4) – Assault with a deadly weapon, PC 417(2)(B) – Brandishing a firearm, and PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to commit a crime. Ghassedi was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail and the juvenile was lodged at the Juvenile Justice Center.
