When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street. Statistics are captured at the time each Crime Bulletin is written; additional cases may be reported at a later time.
  
 
Robberies
 
There were two robberies during the past week.
 
On Mon day, 08-31-26, at approximately 10:50 p.m., on the unit block of El Portal Way, a victim stated that as he was walking to his vehicle, two suspects approached him. The first suspect was armed with a handgun and hit him on the head, while the second suspect forced him into the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. The victim lost consciousness and later woke up near railroad tracks in Oakland. On 09-01-26, the vehicle was recovered in Oakland. The victim described the first suspect as a heavyset Black male wearing all-black clothing and a black ski mask and armed with a handgun. The second suspect was described as a thin Black male wearing all-black clothing and a black ski mask. This investigation is ongoing.
 
On Saturday, 09-05-26, at approximately 3:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to Rigim Launderland on the 300 block of East Market Street on a report of a fight. An argument and physical altercation ensued between two victims and two suspects. During the altercation, the cell phone of one of the victims was taken by a suspect. The suspects fled in a vehicle. Later that day, both suspects were arrested. One suspect, a 39-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for robbery. The second suspect, a 56-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for battery and an additional offense.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.


Commercial Burglaries
 
There was one commercial burglary during the past week.
 
On Sunday, 09-06-26, at approximately 2:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the VIP Shop and Vape, located on the unit block of Washington Street, on a report of a commercial burglary. Four masked suspects in a stolen vehicle reversed into the front entrance doors of the business. After the doors were breached, the suspects entered the store and stole cash and merchandise before fleeing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were two vehicle burglaries during the past week.
 

• 600 block of South Hill Boulevard—a tote bag with gold jewelry and cash was taken from a 2026 Ford Mustang Mach E. The rear windshield was smashed. Occurred on 08-31-26 between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. **Online report.

 

• Unit block of Oceanside Drive—a bag containing a laptop, tap shoes, and earplugs was taken from a 2017 Honda Civic. The vehicle was left unlocked. Occurred on 09-05-26 between 8:10 p.m. and 10:10 p.m. **Online report.

 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were four vehicle thefts during the past week. Three vehicles were recovered.
 

• Gellert Boulevard and Derby Street—a theft of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred between 12:00 p.m. on 09-04-26 and 11:20 a.m. on 09-08-26.  **Recovered by Richmond PD on 09-08-26.

 

• Bonnie Street and Lausanne Avenue—a theft of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Occurred during the evening hours on 09-04-26.  **Recovered by SFPD on 09-05-26.

 

• Unit block of Ocean Grove Avenue—a theft of a 2016 Lexus IS250. Occurred between 1:00 p.m. on 09-05-26 and 4:00 a.m. on 09-06-26. 

 

• Unit block of Derby Street—a theft of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred between 10:40 p.m. on 09-06-26 and 3:43 a.m. on 09-07-26.  **Recovered by CHP Contra Costa on 09-07-26.

 
 
Miscellaneous
 

• There were 140 cases taken.

 

• There were 7 domestic disturbance cases reported.

 

• There were 5 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.

 

• There were 4 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.

 

• There was 1 case of public intoxication.

 

• There were 3 hit-and-run collisions reported.

 

• There were 5 narcotics-related cases taken.

Mexican Flag Raising Ceremony

Free Compost Giveaway
 
The City of Daly City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host free a compost giveaway event. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. The event will take place at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:
 
September 16-17, 2026
 
To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. Events are weather permitting and will be canceled due to rain.
 
 
Pachanga Daly City Celebrando Nuestra Cultura
 
The City of Daly City Department of Recreation Services is hosting Pachanga Daly City Celebrando Nuestra Cultura on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Gellert Park Complex (50 Wembley Drive). City of Daly City Advises Residents to Be Aware of Fraudulent Water Testing Solicitations
 
DALY CITY, CA — The City of Daly City is advising residents to be aware of fraudulent phone calls or visits claiming that the City's drinking water is contaminated.
 
The City recently received a report from a resident who was contacted by an individual claiming to be a contractor offering to test the resident's water for contamination. The caller suggested they were aware of a contamination issue affecting the property.
 
The Department of Water & Wastewater Resources confirms there are no known issues affecting Daly City's drinking water. The City's drinking water continues to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water quality standards and remains safe for drinking and everyday use.
 
Residents should be aware that:

• The City does not hire contractors to contact residents unsolicited to test drinking water for contamination.
• If there were a legitimate concern affecting the public water supply, the City would notify impacted customers through official communication channels, such as direct notifications, the City's website, social media, and other emergency notification methods, as appropriate.
• Residents should exercise caution before providing personal information, allowing unknown individuals onto their property, or purchasing services based on unsolicited claims.

 
If you receive a suspicious call or visit regarding your drinking water, the City recommends that you:

• Decline the unsolicited offer.
• Verify any claims by contacting the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources directly at (650) 991-8200.
• Report suspected fraud to your local law enforcement agency if appropriate.

Catalytic Converter Etch and Protect Program
 
The Daly City Police Department is combating catalytic converter theft by providing 500 CatGuard etching label kits to the first 500 Daly City residents who complete a registration form. Once 500 completed registration forms have been submitted, the registration process will cease. Please note, one label kit per household. 

Each resident will be notified via email or phone call if you qualify for the label kit. Residents will be provided with a date, time and location of where the kit can be picked up. During the time of pick up, the resident will need to show proof of current residence (i.e., identification and/or utility bill). If you have any questions, please call 650-991-8119. Sandbags Available While Supplies Last
 
Sandbags are accessible 24/7 at two locations for residents with proof of residency:
 
- Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (parking lot) - 153 Lake Merced Blvd.  
- Department of Public Works (Corporation Yard entrance) - 798 Niantic Ave.  
 
Limit 10. Please take only what is needed as supplies are limited. When filling sandbags, fill them only halfway, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly.
