Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive-Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, September 16, 2026
.• Stuyvesant Ave. between Underwood St. and 18th Ave.
.• Unity Ave. between Stuyvesant Ave. and West End Ave.
• Valley St. between Stuyvesant Ave. and West End Ave.
• Lenox Ave. between Stuyvesant Ave. and Mead St.
• Commonwealth Ave. between Mead St. and Stuyvesant Ave.
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Stuyvesant Ave. and Unity Ave.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
