Meridian Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for 2025 Stabbing of Wife
MERIDIAN, Idaho — Juan Diego Ramos LOPEZ, 47-year-old male of Meridian, was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for the November 2025 stabbing of his wife.
LOPEZ was sentenced at the Ada County Courthouse after being convicted of domestic violence in the presence of a child, with a sentencing enhancement for the infliction of great bodily injury. LOPEZ will serve at least 15 years before becoming eligible for parole.
On November 16, 2025, at approximately 7:25 a.m., Meridian Police officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a stabbing in progress. When officers arrived, they located the victim inside a bedroom suffering from numerous stab wounds to her head, face, neck, arms, and chest.
The victim reported that her husband, Juan Diego Ramos LOPEZ, had attacked her with a knife and fled the residence. LOPEZ stabbed the victim 26 times while threatening to kill her.
Four of the couple’s children were home at the time of the attack. During the assault, the couple’s 16-year-old child intervened, striking LOPEZ in an attempt to stop the attack, and then called 911.
LOPEZ later turned himself in to an Oregon State Police trooper in La Grande, Oregon. At the time, Oregon State Police reported that LOPEZ still had blood on his hands and was in possession of the knife used in the attack. LOPEZ admitted to officers that he had stabbed his wife and believed she might be dead.
LOPEZ had a history of domestic violence offenses and was on supervised felony probation at the time of the attack.
Meridian Police Department would like to thank the Oregon State Police for their assistance in locating and taking LOPEZ into custody following the attack.
