San Mateo, CA – On September 10, 2026, at approximately 3:36 p.m., SMPD Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of W. Hillsdale Blvd. and W. Sailor Dr. after witnessing license plate and cell phone violations. While contacting the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Gregory Gamble Jr., officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed loose marijuana in the center console.
 
A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a loaded 28mm firearm, individually packaged cocaine, individually packaged marijuana, and additional narcotics. Based on the probable cause established during the investigation, Gamble Jr. was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for transportation and sales, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and possession of marijuana for sale. Gamble Jr. was transported to the San Mateo County Jail, where he was booked on the listed charges.
