The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for southern Westchester County from 4:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms could cause flooding on roadways, in low-lying and poor-drainage areas, and along streams and creeks.
Residents should avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and remain in a safe indoor location when possible. Be especially cautious after dark, when flooding and roadway hazards may be difficult to recognize. Never drive or walk through floodwater or drive around road closure barricades. Residents in basement or below-ground apartments should plan now to reach a higher floor. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your area or flooding threatens, move to a higher floor immediately—do not wait for water to enter your home.
Residents in flood-prone areas may move their vehicles to municipal parking areas, including the Hunter Tier, at no charge during this weather event. Move vehicles before flooding begins and only when it is safe to do so.
