Los Angeles County Homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the death of a male adult at the location.
The incident was reported on Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Deputies from Temple Station responded to a backup request from Parks Bureau deputies at the Rio Hondo Channel with a cross of Rush Street, regarding a body located in the channel.
When deputies arrived on scene, they located a body showing signs of the beginning stages decomposition. Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the individual deceased. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiners Office responded to the scene and the Coroner Investigator noted signs of blunt force trauma indicating possible foul play.
Homicide Investigators are currently on scene conducting the death investigation. The cause of death for the individual will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
