Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting incident following an investigation.
On September 13th at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 300 block of Christiana Avenue in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. During the course of the investigation, Detective Merced identified 50-year-old Mileonce Cherazard as the suspect involved in the shooting incident. A short time later, New Castle County Police located Cherazard in the 100 block of Jillians Way in New Castle, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Subsequently, officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Jillians Way and recovered two 9mm handguns.
Cherazard has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Aggravated Menacing- Three Counts
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution $138,000 cash-only bail.
