Needles Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest After Suspect Gives False Name, Resists Deputies

DATE/TIME:  Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 9:25 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 69 - Resisting an Officer
                  PC 148.9(A) - Giving False ID to Police Officer

LOCATION: North K Street and Front Street, Needles, CA

SUSPECT(S): Dax Emery, 31-years-old, Resident of Fresno, CA

VICTIM(S): State of California


SUMMARY: On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 9:25 p.m., deputies assigned to the Colorado River Station/ Needles Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop near North K Street and Front Street for vehicle code violations.  

During the investigation, deputies contacted the passenger, who was later identified as Dax Emery.  Deputies requested that Emery provide his identity or his identification. Emery initially provided a false name and date of birth. After several attempts to determine his true identity, Emery was taken into custody. 

While deputies were placing Emery under arrest, he became agitated and began pushing and kicking deputies, nearly knocking them to the ground.  Emery continued resisting for several minutes but deputies eventually gained control and safely placed Emery inside the patrol vehicle. 

Emery was transported to the Colordo River Station where his identity was confirmed.

Emery was subsequently transported and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on the following charges: PC69 - Resisting an Officer and PC148.9(A) - Giving False ID to a Police Officer. During the booking process, Emery was also found to have two outstanding warrants out of Fresno, CA for PC245(A)(4) - Assault with Great Bodily Injury and H&S11352(A) - Transporting a Controlled Substance. Emery remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with no bail, awaiting a court hearing.
