The San Mateo Police Officers’ Association Presents… The Pink Patch Party and Laughter is the Breast Medicine Comedy Night

San Mateo Police (SMPD) and the San Mateo Police Officers’ Association (SMPOA) team up again to host this October’s Pink Patch Party and Comedy Night benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness as part of the Pink Patch Project. Sponsored by UCSF and Verkada, the event will bring much needed awareness to breast cancer detection, treatment, and survival. Funds raised will also go towards the department’s Battle Basket Initiative, which provides newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with items to help them along their journey. The Pink Patch Party is free to attend; however, a ticket purchase is required to attend the comedy event immediately following. Both will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

San Mateo, CA – The San Mateo Police Department supports Breast Cancer Awareness and leading up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, our department, along with our San Mateo Police Officers’ Association (SMPOA), have come up with several ways to get the word out and hope our actions will make an impact. As a member of the Pink Patch Project, in October, SMPD officers and patrol vehicles will don pink police patches to bring awareness to breast cancer. We have also taken up several different fundraising methods to raise money for our SMPD Breast Cancer Battle Basket Initiative. Funds raised through our initiative will go towards providing newly diagnosed breast cancer patients with a basket of support items needed to bring comfort at the start of their breast cancer journey. These baskets will offer an instant and tangible show of support as we encourage the road to recovery.

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the SMPOA will host its Pink Patch Party, a FREE public event at the Farallon Room at Skyline College (3300 College Dr., San Bruno) from 5:30pm – 7:00pm. During the Pink Patch Party, attendees will meet local health and wellness partners, socialize, enjoy music, dance, and take photos with an impressive array of police vehicles from across San Mateo County, while taking in the breathtaking Pacific views from the mountainside room. We encourage those who come to the party to pre-purchase tickets to attend the Laughter is the Breast Medicine Comedy Night that immediately follows.

If you can’t make the Pink Patch Party, then make it a point to be there for the comedy night, which starts at 7:30pm (doors open at 6:15pm). Ticket purchase is required for the show. MC’d by Shawn Felipe, the comedy show features a hand-picked lineup of hilarious female comedians delivering an unforgettable night of laughter. Join us to witness the comedic stylings of Chelsea Bearce, Alisha Dhillon, Bhavna Sharma, and headliner, Susan Rice. General Admission tickets are $60 (age 21+) Each ticket includes light appetizers, along with a chance to win exciting raffle prizes throughout the evening, Tiered ticket purchases are available for VIP or special seating and come with drink tickets. To purchase tickets, visit https://sanmateopoa.org/ppp-%2B-comedy-night.

1 in 8 women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis over the course of her lifetime. While breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, the overall death rate from breast cancer has decreased by 1% each year. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances and early detection through screening. Women whose breast cancer is detected at an early stage have a 90% or higher survival rate in the first five years. If we can help just one person at our event, it will be more than worth it. Knowledge is power, and we hope you help us spread the word so that we’re able to provide for those who need it the most.

Detect It. Treat It. Defeat It.
