AVOID the Head of the Bay Road and Beach areas until further notice due potential hazards and debris from the cruise ship dock fire. 
Effective immediately, the Head of the Bay access road and the water frontage will be temporarily closed until further notice.
The purpose of the closure is to prevent exposure to possibly hazardous materials from the cruise shift dock fire that has been washing up on the beach.
The City of Whittier is currently in the process of ascertaining the possible dangers associated with the debris and will monitor the situation.
Once the area has been determined by the City of Whittier and Glacier Creek Terminal, to be safe, the road and beach access will be reopened.
