Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges following a vehicle stop.
On September 11th at approximately 10:38 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 700 block of North West Street in reference to a vehicle violation. Officers made contact with 22-year-old Corey Hynson, who was taken into custody without incident. Officers confirmed Hynson had an outstanding warrant out of the Wilmington Police Department. Officers also recovered a loaded 9mm handgun that was equipped with a 3D-printed lower receiver and a “switch”.
Hynson has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Destructive Weapon
- Possession of a Untraceable Firearm
- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $14,000 cash-only bail.
