TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Street Closures Announced for Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival - Sunday, September 20, 2026
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. announces that the following streets will be closed during the designated hours below due to the City of Newark’s 65th Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival:
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Sunday, September 20, 2026
• Broadway between Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd. and Bloomfield Ave.
• Crane St. between Broadway and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
• Clark St. between Broadway and Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd.
• Bloomfield Pl. between Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd. and Bloomfield Ave.
• Bloomfield Ave. from Lake St. to Broadway (along with surrounding streets)
The parade begins at 12 p.m. and will begin at Broadway and Bloomfield Avenue, continuing along Bloomfield Avenue and ending at Christopher Columbus Drive. The grandstand for the parade will be on Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Christopher Columbus Drive (on the bridge). The festival will be held in Branch Brook Park.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event.
