Family Safety Tips for Large Events
- Establish a Meeting Spot: Pick a prominent, permanent landmark (like a specific information booth, entrance gate, or food tent) the moment you arrive so everyone knows where to go if separated.
- Take a Current Photo: Snap a quick picture of your child on your phone right before you leave home. If they get lost, you will have an exact record of what they are wearing that day to show security.
- Use ID Wristbands or Tags: Write your phone number on a temporary tattoo, a silicone wristband, or a pinned index card inside your child's pocket rather than on their clothing where strangers can read it easily.
- Identify Event Staff: Show your kids what security guards, police officers, and event staff look like (such as specific colored shirts or badges) and tell them to look for these workers if they ever need help.
- Teach the "Stay Put" Rule: Instruct your child that if they realize they are lost, they should stop walking, stay right where they are, and look for an event worker, rather than wandering around looking for you.
