The Town's Contractor is continuing work on Elliot Road between Iroquois Place and Highview Place - This remains an active construction zone. This project is expected to be completed within the next eight (8) weeks.

A work zone is an area of the roadway where crews are working to construct, repair, maintain, or improve the road or surrounding infrastructure. Work zones are set up with signs, cones, barriers, and often flaggers to safely guide traffic through the area. As you approach a work zone, slow down, stay alert, and be prepared to stop. Flaggers positioned at each end of the work zone use signs that say “SLOW” or “STOP” to control traffic. These signs are not suggestions — they are instructions that must be followed.

Flaggers control the movement of traffic to protect both the workers and the traveling public. When a flagger displays STOP, you must stop and remain stopped until you are directed to proceed. When a flagger displays SLOW, proceed carefully at a reduced speed and follow their directions. Never drive around a flagger, ignore a STOP sign, or speed through a work zone. Road crews may be working just feet away, and conditions can change quickly. Slow down. Pay attention. Follow the flagger. Get everyone home safely.

The Town's Contractor has reported a number of instances when people have completely driven through the work zone without stopping. This is extremely dangerous for everyone. We will be working closely with the contractor and East Greenbush Police to make sure the work zone is safe for all.
