INCIDENT: Suspect Leads Deputies on Vehicle Pursuit Through Apple Valley After a Home Robbery and Vehicle Theft in Hesperia
LOCATION: 17000 block of Seaforth Street, Hesperia
SUSPECT(S): Kevin Cartwell Jr., 42-year-old, Resident of Victorville
VICTIM(S): Confidential, Male, Resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY: On September 18, 2026, Hesperia deputies responded to a residence in the 17000 block of Seaforth Street regarding an unknown problem. When deputies arrived, they observed a subject fleeing the scene in a dark blue Chevrolet Tahoe which was later confirmed to be the victim’s stolen vehicle. After a short pursuit deputies lost sight of the vehicle.
Deputies contacted the victim and learned the suspect pointed a handgun at him, struck him in the face, and stole several items of personal property, including a cellular phone and a MacBook Pro.
At about 11:38 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station located the stolen Chevrolet Tahoe near the intersection of Sitting Bull and Tamiani road. As deputies positioned their patrol vehicle behind the Tahoe, the driver, later identified as Kevin Cartwell Jr., attempted to evade them, initiating a pursuit through the city of Apple Valley. The pursuit ultimately concluded near the intersection of Jicarilla and Highway 18.
Cartwell was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC 211- Robbery, CVC 2800.2(a)-Felony reckless evading, and CVC 10851(a)-Vehicle Theft.
