INCIDENT: Gross Negligent Discharge Firearm / In-Custody Death Investigation
LOCATION: 25000 Block of Argyle Court, San Bernardino
DECEDENT: Kevin Lamont Patmon, 66-years-old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Monday, September 21, 2026, at approximately 5:06 a.m., Central Station Deputies were dispatched to an unknown problem on the 25000 block of Argyle Court. The reporting party fled the location after her son, Kevin Patmon, was seen inside his bedroom with a gun. Patmon’s mother heard a gunshot before she fled the residence and asked a neighbor to call 9-1-1. Patmon was the only person still inside the residence.
Upon arrival, deputies began PA announcements for Patmon to exit the residence unarmed. Deputies made several attempts to call Patmon on his cellphone, but he did not answer. A short time later, deputies heard a single gunshot from inside the residence. Personnel from the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) were requested to the scene while deputies evacuated neighbors from nearby residences and continued PA announcements.
SED personnel entered the residence and observed Patmon, motionless on the bed. The SED team contacted Patmon and observed a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest. Medical personnel arrived on scene and declared Patmon deceased.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assumed the investigation.
