FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At approximately 7:45 a.m., Emeryville Police Department officers responded to the 2000 block of Powell Street following a report of a possibly suicidal male adult subject who was alleged to be armed with a firearm.
Officers located the subject and began communicating with him. At approximately 9:40 a.m., with assistance from the Alameda County Mobile Crisis Team, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and the University of California, Berkeley Police Department, officers were able to peacefully resolve the situation.
No injuries were reported. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a 72-hour emergency psychiatric evaluation and detention.
As of this release, no firearm has been recovered. The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives will continue to follow up on the circumstances surrounding the reported firearm.
