NYC Emergency Management is monitoring the potential for heavy rain starting Friday, 9/25 through Sunday, 9/27. Help prevent street flooding by clearing leaves and debris from catch basins near your home if it is safe to do so. If you're cleaning catch basin grates, be sure to wear gloves & watch out for traffic.
You can also report a clogged catch basin by calling 311 or submitting online at on.nyc.gov/38t3h4r
As a reminder, should flooding occur, New Yorkers are advised not to travel over flooded roadways, avoid low-lying areas, and be prepared to move to higher ground, especially if at or below ground level. Basement apartments may be subject to flooding, and those living in basement apartments should be prepared to move to a higher floor and stay out of flooded basements.
