Body Found in Farm Field 
Sheriff Clint Roach reports that Detectives from the Cass County Sheriff's Office (MI) and Michigan State Police have identified the body located in the area of McKenzie St. and Churchill St. in Cass County’s Volinia Township on August 13th, 2026. Detectives have confirmed that the deceased female was identified, with the assistance of Western Michigan Medical Examiner’s Office, as Amber Star Laylin, 40, of Niles, MI.

Information may also be provided to the Michigan State Police Niles Post at 269-657-6081. This case remains under investigation.
